EROME A. YAWNICK 'Jerry' Age 62, of Jupiter, Florida passed away on March 15, 2009 at Hospice. He is the husband of Vicki (Langsen) Yawnick, Jupiter, FL; and the brother of Meryl M. Varney (Paul), Montville, NJ; and the proud uncle of Ryann E. Varney, Montville, NJ, and Jason R.Varney (Sara), Philadelphia PA. His mother Emma Yawnick Stollar, and father Daniel Yawnick are deceased. He has many cousins who he loved. He has friends from high school who are like family, Dr. Dennis Dubin (Lori), Cooper City, FL, Rusty Glicksman, Boston, MA, and David Schaffer, Topeka, KS. They walked to school together, and got into all kinds of trouble. Jerry graduated from Livingston High School, Livingston, NJ and received his BA from Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri, and received his Masters Degree at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was a licensed Realtor, and had his CAM license where he took many courses in property management. Jerry was a member of the New Jersey Jaycees, and served as President of the Jackson (NJ)Jaycees. He achieved the highest honor of Senator in that organization, and served as the New Jersey Senate President 1991-1992. He served as the MDA State Program Manager for Muscular Dystrophy; he received the Robert Leath Award, and the US Jaycees National Award for Human Improvement. His honored achievement was Project H.E.L.P. (Handicap Equipment for Little People), where on a $50 budget, he and a friend solicited donations in the community for equipment, and to build a playground at John F. Johnson Jr. Memorial Park in Jackson, NJ. Ten miles from Six Flags Great Adventure is a glider, a slide, a merry-go round, a balance beam, a pull tunnel, and an elevated sand box. All are wheelchair accessible, with ramps, and plenty of room in between so that children can manipulate their chairs fluidly and have fun. The project was opened by Senator Bill Bradley from New Jersey. Jerry was a 32 degree Mason, Scottish Rite, and held dual memberships in New Jersey and in Florida Lodges. He was active in the Masonic Blood Bank earning his gallon pin. He was History and Spanish Teacher at Neptune High School, Neptune, NJ. He was employed as a Property Manager by Bayshore Association Management, Port St. Lucie, FL, and was the Property Manager for Ocean Dunes, Jupiter, FL where he enjoyed every day (he told me to say that) and the friendship of many people. He also wanted everyone to know that he was trying to be a future lottery winner. His wife Vicki will miss him very much, they will be married 39 years in June. He was the best, (and only) husband she ever had. A celebration of Jerry's life will be conducted on the beach in Jupiter on March 28, with a circle of friends and family who will tell stories of how they remember him. Donations in his honor may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, Inc. Charles W. Gerstenberg Hospice Center, 5300 East Ave. West Palm Beach, FL 33407-2387.
