RECAP of St. Patty's Party courtesy of John Shelby Wells #25672
Mike
& Norma Arons hosted and the food was varied, plentiful and scrumptious;
President Ross James presented
Norma with a beautiful bouquet of
flowers and he brought green carnations for each of the ladies present !
The Lincoln Park contingent (Kathy
Sandham, John & Sue Ellis,
Scott Scarafile and Joe Sabina) brought their usual smiling faces and
cheerful demeaners in stark contrast to their gripping stories of the
flooding in their neighborhoods. John grinned broadly when he saw
Debbie Herman walking in with her freshly baked Irish Soda Bread. Sue
gave several of us lessons in how to navigate Facebook and not become a
security risk. Joe regaled us with stories from days of Jaycee yore as
he held court in the living room area. Scott demonstrated his regained
nimble acrobatic prowess with his new right hip and eased Shelby's mind
concerning his next probable medical adventure. During the evening
Kathy announced her willingness to host our 2012 Super Bowl Party, if
the NFL will be even playing ?
The shore area was represented
well as Dick & Joan Thomas drove
up from AC territory and participated in the festivities as well as an
ongoing MAI 2012 planning session throughout the evening.
Central Jersey attendees included
MAI 2012 Chairman Bob Neumann and
Past Senate Prez Mel Fickas who were present without their better
halves and also delicately balanced St. Patty's merry making with
serious MAI matters. Ron & Barbara Hepburn became involved with the
group who spent a solid hour or so trying to determine if the current
political opining of "you really don't have to do anything" was as
atrocious a bald faced lie as it used to be in our previous
Jaycee/Jaycee-ette lives. While Reggie Slaten walked from kitchen to
living room to the bar and then back to the dining room insuring that
all was well, Claudia presented us with a reminder of her youth in the
form of a box of "Irish Potatoes" straight from the Pennsylvania General
Store. Even though they look exactly like small potatoes, they are
actually a confectioner's delight with a coconut cream filled center
covered with a coating of cinnamon. Jim & Jan Rose shared in all
the fun & frolic and then volunteered to host this year's summer
social/election. Date will follow soon.
Alisa Hodowanec and George
Muniz (interesting tales of his recent
retirement after 30 years as a pipefitter) took honors as the last to
leave concurrently with Shelby & Debbie. We were assured that
President Ross was bedding down for the night. Before we went out the
door, Ross said he would soon provide the date for an Open House up at
Camp Jaycee.
Thanks to Joe Sabina for the pictures
from the social.
